In October 2008, Kent Fuchs, the Joseph Silbert Dean of Engineering at Cornell since 2002, was named Cornell's 15th Provost, effective January 1, 2009. Christopher K. Ober, Francis Bard Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, is serving as interim dean of the college.
