Degree Programs
The School of Applied and Engineering Physics boasts one of the premier applied physics research programs in the world as well as the country’s premier undergraduate engineering physics program. Our faculty members, their research groups, and the quality of our educational programs and graduates are all internationally recognized.
A non-traditional department in Cornell’s College of Engineering, the theme of AEP is applying the techniques, the training, and the culture of physics to intellectual areas usually associated with other scientific and engineering disciplines. Current research areas involve combinations of nanoscience, photonics, biological physics, advanced materials, and advanced instrumentation. AEP research programs involve strong collaborations with faculty members in physics, chemistry, engineering, and the life sciences. Indeed, AEP has been a leader in integrating the physical and life sciences at Cornell for over 30 years.
AEP’s relatively small size enables faculty, staff and students to have close contact in an intellectually stimulating and professional environment.
