- Part A, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination; you can take the FE exam in any state, and
- Part B, the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) examination (taken after four years of work experience post graduation working under a professional engineer). You must take the Part B exam in the state that you plan to practice in.
