Along with your deferral request, you must provide the Engineering Admissions Office with formal confirmation of your military service obligation.
Providing Confirmation is a critical step. You must send the
Engineering Admissions Office a letter from your commanding officer and/or a conscription notice providing verification that you will be, or are currently, fulfilling your military service.
This is often the step that significantly slows the deferral process, so it is best to secure this documentation as quickly as possible. When you attain your military service verification you can submit them to the Engineering Admissions Office in a variety of ways:
- Option 1 (usually the fastest method)
Fax the documents to the following number: 607-255-0971. Then mail an official copy to the following address:

E-mail a scanned copy of your verification forms as an attachment to engr_admissions@cornell.edu.
