The internship program will focus on resource and alternative energy use at its field station on Appledore Island in the Gulf of Maine. Interns will work on six specific projects on Appledore over the course of one month: alternative energy, black water reduction, gray water solutions, fresh water systems, trash control, and data collection methodologies. For detailed information, please see: http://www.sml.cornell.edu/sml_students_internengin.html. Application is due March, 2008.
Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP)
The Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP), provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer.
NREIP provides competitive research internships to approximately 200 college students (139 undergraduate students and 61 graduate students) each year. Participating students typically spend ten weeks during the summer doing research at approximately 12 DoN laboratories. To participate, a student must be enrolled at an eligible college/university (comprising approximately 160 institutions; eligibility is determined by the Office of Naval Research) and have completed at least their sophomore year before beginning the internship. Application is currently open and must be completed by January 14, 2008: http://www.asee.org/nreip
Design, Build, and Launch a Spacecraft
The new CU Sat Nanosatellite team has begun designing and building two spacecraft for the Air Force and NASA. When launched, these satellites will demonstrate how one can inspect another for in-orbit health monitoring and repair. You can join us and receive course credit for participating in this innovative project. All students--freshmen through graduate students and all majors--are welcome to apply. Students who join the team this summer are eligible for a stipend.

Summer Internship Opportunity
A summer internship is available this summer for a qualified student to provide technical assistance to a long-term study of the reproductive biology and ecology of tree swallows nesting in Ithaca. We are looking for a hands-on student with an interest in wired and wireless networks, the development of sensor nodes, and/or database development in a networked sensor node. Experience with any of these topics is strongly preferred, but the only definite requirements are the desire to learn and explore coupled with an interest in working with a thriving group of engineers and biologists.
This project was started last summer and is being funded by an NSF grant. Last summer's intern created a web site that should provide background information for any student interested in applying for this internship. There is a $3,000 stipend plus free housing nearby. All research expenses will be covered separately.
If interested send an e-mail to Prof David Winkler and Jim Moore and include a current resume with the names and phone numbers of at least three references.
