Location

Description

Charles was interested in mathematical modeling and the stock market from an early age. He made his first option trades while he was a student here at Cornell in 1977 and it became clear to him that the only place to trade his ideas successfully was on the trading floors in New York and Chicago. Five years after he graduated, he had made his way to New York and traded on the floor American Stock Exchange as a market maker in options. Here he found success and started his market making and proprietary trading firm named Archelon. Archelon was an early pioneer in applying technology to trading in the 1980s and 1990s and in the 25 years that followed, Archelon and Charles were members and market makers on every major stock and option exchange in the U.S. and Europe as they developed into the electronic exchanges we know today. Charles served on the Supervisory Board of Eurex in Germany for 12 years and has served in numerous capacities of governance and business development of the CBOE in the 1990's. Recently, Charles has spun out Archelon’s trading activities to its partners and employees and is taking on special projects and consulting to FinTech firms.

Charles has a B.S. in engineering from Cornell (OR&IE 1978).
