Research Administration

The Research Administration Service Center (RASC) contributes to the research mission of the College of Engineering by providing faculty with efficient, friendly and professional pre-award research administration and proposal development services.

Our Vision:
To be a highly efficient and effective pre-award research administration service center, providing expertise and support to Cornell Engineering faculty in all facets of pre-award research administration, from identifying funding opportunities to proposal preparation and review in a team-centric environment.

Our Mission:
To add value to Cornell Engineering by collaborating with faculty to provide superior customer service, reduce administrative burdens, create efficiencies, and provide expertise in navigating sponsor guidelines throughout the proposal development process to facilitate assembly and submission of successful proposals.

Our Purpose:
Preparing to submit a proposal is often an arduous task with many requirements between the sponsor and specific solicitation requirements, internal forms and processes, and various submission systems or methods. RASC’s purpose is to reduce the administrative burdens on faculty so that they may concentrate more intently on the technical or scientific components of their proposals, thereby increasing the chances of successful funding.

Researchers are invited to send proposal notifications to the Research Administration Service Center by completing a short Proposal Notification form. A Pre-Award Specialist will be assigned to the proposal within one business day, and will follow up with the researcher, the researcher's department, and the Cornell University Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).

We offer the following pre-award services:

  • Deliver orientation to new faculty regarding pre-award services and funding opportunities.
  • Provide full support for complex research center proposals.
